Here's an interesting pre-Christmas concept and competition, Sufjan Stevens - a long time lover of the Christmas record - wants you to write and record your own Christmas ditty and send it to his label Asthmatic Kitty. Once all entrants are in, the label will pick a winner and swap with the writer the rights to a brand new Sufjan Stevens Christmas song for their's.
"Sufjan Stevens' song becomes your song. You can hoard it for yourself, sell it to a major soft drink corporation, use it in your daughter's first Christmas video or share it for free on your website. No one except Sufjan and you will hear his song unless you decide otherwise. You get the song and all legal rights to it. We get the same rights to your song. By submitting your song you also give us permission to stream it online."
You have until around December 15th to enter your song and more details can be found here.
