This one dropped into our inbox and is pretty much the perfect start to a grey Thursday. Stars Of The Lid founder Adam Wiltzie and L.A. composer Dustin O’Halloran have come together to create A Winged Victory For The Sullen. Anyone familiar with either’s previous work wont be surprised to hear that this track, Steep Hills Of Vicodin Tears, is washed with an optimistic melancholy punctuated by low drones and rising strings (provided by Peter Broderick — of course).
Not a free download, but another taster of the album to come, this track, Requiem For The Static King Part One, was written in memory of the passing of Mark Linkous.
And finally, here’s a video teaser of the recording of A Winged Victory For The Sullen.
The pair release their self-titled debut on 12th September via Erased Tapes.
